The Lineup

Read the rap sheet for the Usual Defects.

Knotty

Knotty

Dimensions

  • Thickness: 1-1/2"
  • Width: 5-1/2"
  • Height: 8'

Distinguishing Features: Dark, loose areas that vary in size from small to large.

Wanted For: Passing his knots off as "artistic." Shifty, unreliable, and hard to nail down.

Evasion Tactics: Will play very casual and mention he's going to "just pop out" for a coffee. Do not trust him.

Background: Knotty is the undisputed leader of the Cull Pile Gang, the crown prince of the Usual Defects. Teased and ignored by homeowners as a teenager for his wood-zits, he ran away and joined his first gang, the Lumber Louts. There, he learned the dark arts from the red tag master, Ol' Barky himself! As much as Knotty loathed his knots, he came to rely on them. His trademark move was to pretend he was nailed down, then fall out of square by popping the knot out. He left the Lumber Louts after planning the big Dr. Strongbond caper, and formed his own gang, The Usual Defects. Time and time again, LP SolidStart LSL protects the whole neighborhood from his get-built-quick schemes.

The Hero

LP SolidStart® LSL

Dimensions

  • Thickness: 1-1/2"
  • Width: 5-1/2"
  • Height: 8'

Who can stop the Usual Defects?
LP Solidstart® LSL!

Distinguishing Features: Pound for pound, stronger than any other dimensional lumber. Straight. Practically flawless.

Strengths: Headers and beams, wall stud applications, roof beams and rafters, truss chords, rim boards, stair stringers. Anywhere you use lumber, he'll be there.

Background: LP SolidStart LSL traces his roots to the sustainably harvested forests of the Northeast. He grew quickly, like most of his hardwood family did. The night before he was called up, he barely slept because he was so nervous and excited. For one thing, he'd never been on a log truck before, much less moved.

Training at the LP SolidStart Camp was the hardest thing he'd ever done. It tore him down, shredded him into 9-inch strands. But then LP SolidStart built him back up, using pressure and state-of-the-art MDI resins to make him stronger than he ever imagined, up to 1.75E. He arrived at his first construction site in perfect condition: straight, strong, and measured. He saw his first action as a header, taking the place of two sticks of “normal” lumber. The word spread among builders, and soon a legend was born…
